Kunert/Root LLC
is an engineering consulting firm that provides structural and civil engineering for residential and commercial structures. The firm operating from Durango, Colorado since December 2003, was started by principle members, Kenneth Root and Kay Kunert, in 2002 in the Denver-Metro area.

Our services are provided to architectural firms, construction firms, individual clients, other engineering firms, municipalities, and state and federal agencies primarily in the Four Corners area, but not limited to this area.

The members of Kunert/Root operate as a team or individually to provide clients with top quality design from the conceptual phase through completion in a timely and professional manner. We focus on efficient and effective management of projects and on maintaining the integrity of the engineering profession. We also provide engineering inspection and observation of structural and engineering projects, project management, drafting, and technical writing and review.

Our knowledge of engineering and design, applicable codes and standards, safety regulations, and government specifications enables us to support our clients requirements. We draft plans, perform calculations, and prepare specifications as the project demands.

Ken Root
Kenneth Root is a Professional Engineer with experience in structural analysis and design of residential and commercial buildings, transmission towers, and substations, and has worked successfully with prominent consulting engineering firms. He also has experience in oversight of public works projects and inspections. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado at Denver and is licensed in Colorado and New Mexico.

Kay Kunert
Kay Kunert has over 25 years' experience in engineering, construction, and structural design. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and a Masters Degree in Geochemistry from the Colorado School of Mines.
